Permissions Manager maintains the look and feel of the standard Content Server. Understanding Permissions Manager will not be a difficult exercise for a user familiar with Content Server. No. Permissions Manager uses the same levels of control as the standard Permissions function. If you can’t change permissions using the standard function, you can’t change them in Permissions Manager.
No. The Personal Workspaces are not affected. The ‘Replace User’ function only affects the current folder tree that you are Managing Permissions for.
None. Permissions Manager fully respects and complies with the standard Content Server permissions. Permissions Manager does not grant access to content that has not been granted through the standard Content Server permissions model.
No. The ‘Replace User’ function allows a new user to step into a role which was previously held by a user who may have left the organisation or moved into another role. However, all historical information such as audit trails and documents which the user has created will remain intact.
The fundamental building blocks of the Content Server permissions model are ‘Users’ & ‘Groups’, with permissions being granted on both entities. If a user is not explicitly granted permissions on a particular folder or document, they may have some form of rights over the document by virtue of being a member of a group which has appropriate permissions. Permissions Manager takes into consideration both explicitly stated user permissions and permissions inherited through group membership, and displays the highest level of permissions as ‘effective permissions’.

No. For example, Permissions Manager fully integrates with Brava permissions and any permission changes which are introduced through Records Management. Content Server objects which introduce an alternate Access Control List (ACL) such as Projects and Tasks Lists are also supported.
